On this week’s Laser Talk, Nick and Walker look at all the different materials laser cutters have to work with and discuss how to apply the right application to the right material. Plus the guys talk about the value of material tests and what to do with all those scraps of material lying around the shop. Enjoy the show and then check out some related bonus content!

Bonus Content - Material Test

Never guess your settings when using any material. Also remember, materials like wood are susceptible in changes in temperature and humidity. That’s why we recommend material testing before each project. The good news is, material tests are easy to perform using our simple step-by-step method.Material Test_TW

Bonus Content - Banned Materials

As Nick and Walker constantly demonstrate, there are unlimited projects one can do with commonly laser cut materials, such as wood, acrylic, card stock, and more. That said, we notice people asking about other materials that are potentially dangerous to put under a laser. This blog shows a bunch of materials you should NEVER use with a laser cutter. Remember, even this extensive list of banned materials is not complete and you should always check with the material manufacturer regarding laser cutting or engraving safety. Screen Shot 03-13-18 at 11.15 AM
