Preparing for MC-Series Compact Fiber Arrival

It is time to get prepared.

Your MC-Series Compact Fiber laser cutter has been shipped and is about to arrive at your chosen destination. With just a little forethought, the transformation of your space into a manufacturing workshop can be smooth and easy. Follow these guidelines to prepare your workspace before your MC-Series arrives.

Select a Location

You probably already have a location in mind, however, there are some qualities you want to make sure the location has. First, you will need a large, open space for the machine. MC-Series Compact Fiber dimensions are 100" x 84" x 78" and weighs approximately 3307 lbs. You also want to be sure the room is large enough to accommodate not only the laser cutter, but also the cooling system, the exhaust system and the gas canisters. You will also need enough space to work in. This includes a place for your raw materials and some elbow room.

Safety Inspection

Once you have selected the space you will place your laser cutter, you will want to consider safety protocol. Before your MC-Series Compact Fiber arrives be sure you have a properly inspected fire extinguisher. You will also want to have a first aid kit in, or near, your workspace. Finally, have an emergency plan ready in case of gas leaks, fire or other safety issue. These are crucial elements for a safe workspace and should be prepared well in advance of your machine’s arrival.

Power Requirements

Your laser cutter is configured to work with standard power for your region. Remember that besides the laser cutter itself, you will need additional power outlets (and space) for the exhaust system and the laser tube cooling system. Be sure you have adequate power outlets and enough space to keep cords out of sight so you don’t trip over them.

Exhaust Requirements

Your MC-Series Compact Fiber includes an exhaust fan, so that fumes and particles created from laser cutting different materials can be exhausted away from the workspace. This is typically done through a simple ventilation system that exits the fumes out a window or an installed exhaust duct (like a common clothes dryer). If your workspace does not have a window or an installed exhaust port, you can purchase a fume extractor. Fume extractors use a filter system and do not require outside ventilation. If you intend on using a fume extractor, you will want to order it with (or prior) to your purchase of the Compact Fiber laser so it is ready to go.

Cutting Gas Canisters

You will need to arrange for cutting gas canisters on your own. Full Spectrum Laser does not supply cutting gas, gas canisters or the canister caddy. Prior to the arrival of your compact fiber laser cutter, contact your local cutting gas supplier to have gas arrival match your laser cutter arrival.

MC-Series Compact Fiber Arrival

When your laser cutter arrives, you will need a forklift to lift the crate to your workspace and to lift the machine from the crate. Once in your workspace, you must assemble the cooling, cutting gas and exhaust systems. Some required items are not included with your machine. For the cooling system you will need up to a gallon of distilled water. Finally, you can download the user manual prior to arrival to fully understand all aspects of your laser cutter.

When your Compact Fiber laser cutter arrives, the best way to get started right away is to be prepared and have your workspace safe and ready for work.
